Paul’s experience includes over 30 years of agency work on retail, entertainment, manufacturing, and financial accounts. His perspective comes from a career that includes work in all facets of the agency business. This diverse background has helped hone Paul’s skill at helping clients clearly define their marketing challenges and in crafting impactful, solution-based plans. Paul founded PMM in 2006 and in that time has grown the firm to a client roster of over 40 accounts and annualized billings of over $7,000,000.
Paul is the former President of the largest Advertising/PR agency in the Central Valley where he directed the growth of the firm, supervised a staff of 30 and maintained direct contact with most of the Agency clients. His responsibilities included supervision of the creative, account service, public relations, research and production departments. Prior to that his experience included account management, media supervisorial work and media planning.
His experience includes work on several national accounts most notably Taco Bell, as well as numerous regional and local accounts.
Paul is past president of the Fresno Advertising Foundation Board, past president of the California State University, Fresno Media Communications Alumni Board, a member of the Children’s Hospital Central California Foundation Board, former member of the Sequoia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Paul graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from California State University, Fresno.
He has been recognized the Fresno State MCJ Alumni Association as a Hall of Fame Fellow and is a member of the Fresno Advertising Federation Hall of Fame.
Alyson joined Paul McDougal Marketing in 2007 as the assistant account executive for all PMM accounts. Her responsibilities include a wide range of account support functions including developing sales reports and tracking growth for retail clients, preparing presentations, planning events, project follow-through, and client contact. Alyson’s background includes five years experience in the financial field having served as a Financial Associate with Citibank. Alyson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, emphasis in Marketing, from California State University, Fresno in 2006.
Kathryn brings the agency over 20 years experience in marketing, project, sales and training management, public relations, event planning with public, private and non profit corporations. She is responsible for the administrative functions of the agency as well as holding down some account management duties. Her experience includes work with a large manufacturing firm, VP positions with non-profits and work as an independent consultant. Her consultancy includes work in project management, account service and event planning. Kathryn holds a BA degree in Mass Communications from CSU, Fresno.
Kurt joined Paul McDougal Marketing in 2009, bringing a wealth of art knowledge and design experience to his role as senior art director. He was a successful graphic designer in the pre-computer era and kept pace with his industry’s digital transformation, placing him on the leading edge of the latest advances and technologies. Along the way, Kurt has garnered numerous awards from the advertising and graphic arts communities in recognition of his talent for creating high-impact artwork.
Kurt is well-known and respected in the Central California marketing community, having spent nearly 28 years at a large regional advertising/marketing agency before joining Paul McDougal Marketing. Today, he serves clients in a wide range of industries from local businesses to national chains, providing such capabilities as: logo, print, outdoor and web design; multimedia production; photo editing and more.
Kurt’s educational background includes training at the Art Center College of Design and a degree in Commercial Art from Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
Julie Phillips Randles has more than 20 years of experience as a professional copywriter, editor, journalist and public relations pro. After working for several years as a journalist, editor and marketing manager for a leading national newspaper chain, Julie began her own marketing and communications business. In the course of operating this firm, Julie was able to blend her writing skills with clients’ needs for communications consulting and public relations expertise. Over the years, Julie has written for nearly every publication type and communications vehicle including: national magazines, websites, press releases, brochures, direct mail, social media, print advertising and broadcast media. She prides herself on her ability to quickly understand clients’ communications and copy needs, to research relevant industries and topics, to quickly produce publishable copy and to then market that copy to the appropriate audiences. Her contacts in the media and her work as a professional journalist mean that Julie knows how to deliver concisely written copy that will earn consideration from editors. Julie has additional experience as a news writing and editing instructor at a state university. She has a bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism and master’s in mass communication.
With over 18 years of marketing and marketing research experience, Jim serves as our strategy and research specialist. His areas of expertise include marketing & advertising strategy, research, and web development. Jim’s focus on planning and research fundamentals has helped make solid contributions to client organizations. Past engagements have included business and marketing planning, comprehensive competitive research, customer research, product development recommendations, web-based marketing, and project management. His work has benefited organizations such as Dunmore Homes, Experea Healthcare, Honda, Kawasaki, Table Mountain Casino, Hyundai Motors, Azunia Spirits, and LaMesa RV among others. He holds an MBA in Marketing Management from St. John’s University in New York, and a B.A. in Health Care administration from CSULB.
After serving for several years as senior management for two statewide public relations firms, Alfreda started Sebasto Communications Group in 2003. Alfreda also works as an associate of PMM on several accounts providing a seamless client service platform. With a proven track record, her background in public relations and government relations, combined with an extensive knowledge of the state and region, she continues to help her clients succeed in the most challenging of situations. Alfreda is the former Director of Public Affairs for the California Department of Food and Agriculture. She coordinated media relations and public outreach for the Department under Secretary Ann M. Veneman. Previously, she worked as Deputy Director of Governor Pete Wilson’s Central California Office based in Fresno, covering an eleven county territory. Alfreda began her political career as an aide to State Senator Jim Costa (D-Fresno) where she focused on agriculture, water and environmental resources. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural communications from the University of California, Davis and was honored with the prestigious Award of Distinction for outstanding alumni by her alma mater in 1995. Alfreda is also a member of several boards in Fresno.
Melanie’s expertise covers the full breadth and depth of media with over 30 years of experience that includes working at agencies in Dallas and Tennessee. Most of her experience over that time is in creating media programs that drive retail traffic. In the first year of working with Taco Bell, her team was awarded Taco Bell’s Excellence in Media award recognizing the most cost effective media planning and buying. In her years working with PMM she has consistently impressed agency clients with her ability to plan and negotiate traditional and digital media plans that are strategically sound and highly cost efficient.
